Bugs On A Log Automaton

This was an 8 week Level 5 project to produce a working automaton using a variety of mechanisms. The automaton features a spider spinning a web around a fly, a butterfly flying forwards and backwards, a caterpillar emerging from under a leaf, a pillbug curling up, three ants walking through a hole in a branch, and a luna moth moving from side to side. The front of the automaton was left open for viewers to be able to see how the motions were created. A bark texture was applied to the outer surfaces using filler and the ends of the log were laser engraved from an image.
